The latest issue of "Revolver" has a cover story on AFI and like-minded "spookycore" bands. I don't really think that most of these bands are "goth rock," but I like several of them anyway*. I enjoy some pop-punk bands (which these bands are) so long as they are not sent through a mainstream blender first. Catchy songs are catchy songs, and if there are supernatural/spooky lyrcis, all the better. I'm really enjoying the new album by I Am Ghost, which features a violin and some other elements that make them a little different than your average pop-punk act. The band Stolen Babies is supposed to be like an Oingo Boingo for the 21st century. And I've really liked the past two AFI albums, I think they get a lot more flak than they deserve. Anyway, some of you guys and gals might find this article interesting.
* Again, the point I try to make is that just because I don't consider something to be "goth" does not mean that it is bad.
