I gave my sinister servant Thrall a puzzle to keep his meager mind occupied while I slumbered. I specifically forbid him from seeking any outside help. But now that I have been awakened once more, I shall pose the same perlexing puzzle to your mortal minds.
Thrall's Dilemma
On the table before you rest three glass containers:
1. A large empty goblet, that, when filled to capacity, can hold 12 ounces of liquid.
2. A small empty goblet, that, when filled to capacity, can hold 3 ounces of liquid.
3. A large pitcher that contains one gallon of water.
The devious dilemma is to fill both goblets to the brim with water from the pitcher, yet still have one gallon of water left in the pitcher. You may not replenish the pitcher from any other source!
Do not disturb me until you have discovered the solution!
