After listening to a few Nox arcana songs and looking over my own poems I decided to write this one based on my poem "The Dark horseman" which can be found on the dark poetry section. If you encounter any grammatical/spelling errors please alert me and I will alter them.
EMBRACE OF SHADOWS:THE DEMONIC ARBITER
From the darkness he approaches. A mounted arbiter of macabre proportions upon a magnificent steed of ebony, clad in the finest armour forged in the unhallowed abyss.
Lurking in the soul of this beast is an untamed heart of vicious hunger and violent torments. One can only wonder if these two haunting forms are joined by more than a mere saddle.
The Arbiter holds on his back a massive scythe. Like the talons of an angered raven, it drips with the blood of the innocent and the guilty for whom this dreaded knight was judge jury and executioner.
He drops from the steed his feet causing the concrete to shake slightly as if it too feared this merciless hunter. He exits the shadows and stands tall. His hellish form silhouetted in the moonlight. I cannot help but admire the craftsmanship required to produce such effective weapons and armour. But I quickly discard this thought as I remember this dark being’s origins and refuse to look at him as if to even lay eyes upon such a horrid warrior is a sin without repentance.
I turn hesitantly to face him. He stands much taller than the average man and is much wider he probably has a greater musculature making him appear much stronger than I. His armour is deep black with numerous protrusions on his shoulders and legs. He wears a helmet rounded at the top but with two huge black horns-like those of a ram- curving to the back of his neck, his eyes glow blood red.
An eternity seems to pass between me and this demonic arbiter before suddenly he speaks. The arbiter’s voice is a booming thunder commanding complete and unquestioned obedience.
“The void beckons mortal!”
I look him over trying not to let the determination in my heart spoil my stone cold exterior.
“And it will continue to beckon because neither mortal demon nor God could drag me back to whence you came demon!”
The horseman chuckles malevolently and places his hand on my shoulder.
“Then it is fortunate that I am none of theses things but something altogether worse.”
The horseman tightens his grip on my shoulder, threatening to crush it in his hand. Then he lifts me by the shoulder and thrusts his gauntleted hand into my unprotected gut.
I keel over but not far enough to gain any relief due to the demon’s grip on my shoulder. He throws me against the brick wall.
I lie there for a minute winded before finally returning to my feet. I wipe a trickle of blood from my lip and push my shoulder length lack hair out of my face.
“So that’s how you want to play it well so be it but I warn you demon once this battle is started not even time itself can stop it.”
The horseman begins to laugh hysterically, Looking my seemingly unremarkable form over. I stand taller than most at six foot five I wear a long black leather trench coat and black jeans the most abnormal thing about my body is the huge scar travelling the diagonal length of my face. This demonic Arbiter clearly doesn’t know who he’s up against I thought.
Using the horseman’s arrogance as a diversion I disappear into the small shadowed area to my left and the shadows wrap me in a cold embrace then I exited the shadows clad in a jet black armour it is smooth- as opposed to the spiny layout of the horseman’s armour- due to the shadows that forged it. My whole body is armoured except my head so the demon can look into my eyes and see the eternal torment that awaits him. My eyes glow deep red as does the scar starting above my eye and finishing below my chin.
The demon recoils in fear.
“This cannot be you are just a mortal you cannot have these powers this isn’t right!”
Anger stretches across my features
“Right, right how dare you lecture me about right and wrong, you who slaughter the innocent and guilty only to satisfy your own sick desires. What did you think huh that no one would notice that the gods would just let it happen huh is that what you thought arbiter? Well think that no more I am the god’s instrument I am their hammer and you are my nail now it’s time to put you in your place!”
The demon stands in silence due to a mixture of fear and awe. Then the Arbiter runs forward with his scythe in hand. I sidestep quickly and grab the scythe. The weapon begins to burn in my hand. Then the blade melts. The arbiter drops the broken weapon and begins to try to hit me in hand to hand combat. I continuously dodge and block his attacks then he tries to punch me with his left hand. I grab his fist and sidestep and punch him full force in the gut. He falls to his knees.
“huh what…what are…you”
I stand with a smile spreading across my features and my arms folded.
“What’s the matter victory not coming as effortlessly as you thought well get used to that because I am no angel and I am no demon no I am something altogether different. You see arbiter every person you killed released in their last moments a powerful burst of dark energy and from that and the hopes of the twenty thousand people left I was born the quintessence of evil merged with the quintessence of good the blood of the angels flows through my veins but so too does the blood of demons. I cannot let you surrender but I can allow you last words.”
The demon stares in utter astonishment fear visible in his every movement. He begins to charge a dark energy ball in his hand under his chest.
“I do have one word for you” He said
“Then I will hear them”
He fires the ball and shouts.
“be gone!”
I catch the energy ball in my hand and squeeze, the energy dissipates. I grab him by the throat and place my hand on his heart.
“That’s two words…Lucifer”
Then a black coloured energy beam rips through the demon’s back and devastates the entire city.
I throw aside the prince of darkness’s corpse and begin to walk through the now disappearing city. Time was righting itself this city never existed because Lucifer never existed humanity never left the Garden of Eden peace returned and I Everto Ludicer the dark knight returned to my solitary role as the dark one born to protect the light by embracing the shadows. This is my tale a tale of sadness of loss and solitude. The lonely wanderer. wherever there was trouble I was there but Never was anyone else I learned that those who are destined to save are destined to be alone.
