I use certain Nox Arcana songs when I'm writing. I find Masque of the Red Death extremely useful for war scenes and "belladonna" and "Madeline's lament" for loss/aftermath scenes the kind of scenes where the main character walks among the corpses of his fallen brethren through the ruins of a once proud city. Like for instance I used belladonna for this opening scene.

"The pretensions of the once great capital were now bitterly apparent. Abandoned cars sat along sidewalks and in the middle of the road. The air tasted of a morbid mixture of burnt flesh, ash and tears. The Washington monument, once a testament to human ingenuity and perseverance now stands as a bleak reminder of just how easily it can crumble."

Using the same tale as an example to show the degradation of society, I have the appearance of numerous tribes and the such, the song(s) I write to being "black fire" or sometimes "the mask of Kali"

"The rhythm of the beats those terrible drums, drained you physically as well as mentally. Your own heart beat tried to mimic the sound. Perhaps through fear. It's unable to stop itself so instead it seeks refuge behind the almost palpable drumbeats. The cacophony of noise flavoured by the hooting and howling of the surrounding degenerates was enough to drive even the darkest, hardened and fearless of men beyond the precipice of madness. What terrible desires drove these tribal menaces to their vicious and sadistic deeds is as discernible as the identity of the poor soul whose skull now adorns their emaciated necks."

and my personal favourite the EVIL speech of the EVIL villain. I LOVE speeches. This one I usually use the Black throne.

"Like a shadow I shall walk, silent as the wind and hunt with a tenacity fathomable to neither friend nor foe. For I am niether good nor evil I am the darkness that even shadows revere. I am the fear from which spawneth hate, the hate from which spawneth suffering and the ender of all. You can't defeat me as you gave rise to me, we are one and the same I am your darkness, your darkest desire and greatest fear, I am your anger and the focus therein. Give into me as I did to you and together we can make this world our own, either way this world will crumble and all shall kneel before me. This is humanities final dawn tomorrow the blood moon rises and the sun sets eternally."
