Denizen Posts: 136 03/08/08 8:07 Denizen	I need some help: I have been trying to find some music that combines rock and/or metal with orchestral-type music, i.e. violins, timpanis, etc. But I want it instrumental or very little voice. Some choir would be nice. I was checking out Amazon, and came across: Rhapsody (of Fire) Luca Turilli Nightwish Symphony X Moonlight Agony If you are familiar with these bands, then you understand the type of music I want. Just without the vocals. Symphony + rock. Suggestions anyone?? ~bela

It is fronted by Dee Snider(of Twisted Sister)and they are classical orchestral oriented Rock/Metal,featuring an 18 piece orchestra ensemble.You can find them on AMAZON,as well.However,I don't really know if they are what you are looking for exactly...but I thought that I would mention them to you since they aren't on your list of names.With Dee Snider as their front man,they do have some vocals.But as to how much,I am not for certain.I've only heard a couple of their tunes.They have an album out ,titled:Oculus Infernum Hauntedlair(Ron)

Heh heh heh heh heh heh heh Haaaaaaaaaa, ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!!!!!!! Yes, yes, you know my zeal. None of you, my fellow fans are alone in it. As for this question, I would recommend Apocalyptica's 2003 CD "Reflections" a largely original collection of cello based metal with only two songs with vocals on it.

I chuckle along with thou I checked out some Apocalyptica songs and ....... well, I definitely love the cellos, but what I'd like is them, with huge orchestration behind them AND a rock band jammin. But those 4 guys playing Metallica !!!! Totally cool! Perhaps what I am searching for does not exist?! Alas, I shall continue on my musical journey until I quench my desire to find such auditory bombastism. Much gratitude for your suggestion, Sir John. Make it a grand day ~bela

I just received 2 Nightwish cd's and they're pretty close to what I'm craving, er, um, wanting to listen to. Their Dark Passion Play (extra instrumental disk) is deliciously wonderful!! ~bela (whose heart is is being impaled by the vile monster who the villagers refer to as PATIENCE - the waiting for Grimms is killing me!!!! What a slow, agonizing, yet almost pleasuable, death....)

They are a very good band, but to my knowledge they do not have an instrumental CD...but I haven't really found too many of their albums in order to put defense behind my statement. Something you could try is there is a site called 'Pandora' which is an online radio site, where you can create your own stations from bands, songs, and artists, and the radio site will actually search for similar sounding tracks and play them for you. It is not always spot-on, but I have discovered many bands through it. Unfortunately it is unfamiliar with Nox Arcana, as when I put them into it does not come up with anything, but I'm sure the site would have trouble finding similar tracks that weren't Nox Arcana, becasue Nox Arcana is incomparable to all other bands and it would be hard for it to find something with the same sound. The site is definitly good for finding additional bands to listen too, though and may help you in your searches. I wish you much luck. Last Edited By: Malus Ferox 07/23/08 3:18. Edited 1 time.
