I know what you may be thinking by the title but this game has strong elements of horror. Let me explain. For the past few years a company called Frogwares has
been putting out a series of Sherlock Holmes PC games, and their third game was titled The Awakened. A remastered edition was also put out. In this game, you
play as Sherlock Holmes as he confronts the cult of Cthulhu. That's right, they crosses the work of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle with H.P. Lovecraft.

While I don't mean to turn this post into an "ad" for the game, I feel that it should have its place here. As a dark epic fantasy role playing
game, this looks to be a pinnacle of interactive gaming entertainment. Is anyone else here looking forward to this one like me? From what I have seen and
heard, the art, music, presentation and production values look to combine to make an exemplary role playing game experience. I guess we'll find out come
tomorrow, but I am really...

I'm not a huge gamer, not sure if video games count, but on the PS1/ PS2 there was a series of games that produced 3 strong titles that I've gone back
and revisited:
Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 1 & 2
Legacy of Kain: Defiance

In these you play as Raziel, one who once belonged to a race of vampires and had the misfortune of evolving before his master Kain. He was cast into water by
his brothers under Kain's command and left for dead/undead. His spirit was...

First though, a little backstory on how this came to be.

I had been running a weekly Vampire game for close to a year. Same players, same campaign. The old game had started to reach its climax, and was nearing the end. Before one of our sessions, I allocated some social time with "routine" banter... asking questions...

A soft glow of candlelight flickered its way across the darkened corridors. Gentle rustlings from a petticoat muffles the sounds of heartbroken sorrow. Foreboding gloom followed a shadowy figure into the night. Alura closed her eyes tight and sighed heavily as she placed her hand upon the doorknob in front of her. The long walk up to the tower had allowed her too much time to dwell on her desolate grief. A cold numbness began to spread up the length of her arm as the knob twisted in her hand....
